Hate Crime, Terrorism Charges Weighed for Indicted Shooter at Buffalo

The single count of first-degree murder against the accused shooter covers all 10 deaths at the supermarket.

BUFFALO — The man charged with murdering 10 black people at a supermarket at Buffalo appeared briefly in court Thursday after a grand jury indicted him on a first-degree murder charge.

The assistant district attorney for Erie County, Gary Hackbush, said the indictment of Payton Gendron, 18, was handed up Wednesday.
