If the president wants to hold on to his narrow margin of victory in Pennsylvania, he cannot afford to lose one vote — in particular, a vote from the center of the Democratic Party.

PHILADELPHIA — Northeast Philadelphia native Marc Rayfield is a registered Democrat, considers himself a liberal, and voted for Senator Fetterman and Governor Shapiro in 2022 and for President Biden in 2020. Now, though, he says he finds himself estranged from the party due to rising crime and homelessness at his beloved city of Philadelphia.
