Investigators are questioning a police officer in the fatal off-duty shooting of an unarmed motorist during a traffic dispute in upper Manhattan.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says that the officer turned himself in early today.
A witness told police that the victim had taunted the officer by acting like he had a gun.
The shooting occurred at about 5 a.m. yesterday following an accident that forced police to divert traffic off the FDR Drive.
Authorities say the officer, who was off-duty and driving his own car, became involved in the dispute after the 26-year-old motorist refused to let him merge.
