MAMBO KING TRIBUTE Jazz at Lincoln Center presents “Palladium Memories,” a performance by the original Tito Puente Orchestra, which was formed by the legendary Latin jazz bandleader and percussionist in the 1950s. CREAM OF THE BAVARIAN CROP As part of its International Festival of Orchestras III, Carnegie Hall presents the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, which performs Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 54 and Strauss’s “Four Last Songs.” The orchestra is conducted by Mariss Jansons and featured performers include soprano Karita Mattila. STARS, STRIPES AND JAZZ The Blue Note presents Kenny Werner and his quintet, who perform selections from the pianist’s new jazz album,”Democracy.” Ensemble members include drummer Antonio Sanchez and tenor saxophonist Billy Drewes. PROTEST IN 36 VARIATIONS The Chelsea Art Museum presents a performance of Frederic Rzewski’s opus “The People United Shall Never Be Defeated” by pianist Christine Diwyk.
