LATVIAN QUARTET The Fabbri Chamber Concerts series kicks off its seventh sea son with a performance by the Rix Piano Quartet from Latvia. The program includes the New York premiere performance of “Piano Quartet” (2001) by the contemporary Latvian composer Peteris Vasks.The quartet also performs Saint-Saens’s “Barcarolle” and Brahms’s Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60. A reception follows the concert, which takes place in building’s wood-paneled Italian Renaissance library. SPANISH SONGS The New York Festival of Song presents “Teatros Espanoles,” a celebration of Zarzuela, Spanish, and Latin American musical theater. Musicians Steven Blier and Dina Kuznetsova, among others, perform works by Pablo Luna, Ernesto Lecuona, and Jacinto Guerrero. Tonight and tomorrow, 8 p.m., Merkin Hall, Kaufman Center, 129 W. 67th St., between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, 212-501-3330, $45 general, $35 seniors, $22.50 students one half-hour before showtime.


QUEENS COMPOSERS Saxophonist Carol Sudhalter, vocalist Myrna Lake, and their 10-piece band honor the “Women Composers of Queens,” from Billie Holiday to Julie Mandel.Several of the featured women composers will be in attendance. JAZZ BATTLE Trombonists Andre Hayward and Steve Davis and baritone saxophonists Gary Smulyan and Joe Temperley duke it out on stage in a series of jazz battles. The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra rhythm section accompanies each artist. Saturday, 1 p.m., warm-up with Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra rhythm section, 2 p.m., Hayward vs. Davis, 3 p.m., Temperley vs. Smulyan, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Frederick P. PIANO PERFORMANCE The Hilton Head International Piano Competition presents a concert by its 2005 first prize winner, Di Wu, performing works by Bach, Ravel, Scriabin, Brahms, and Jennifer Higdon. Sunday, 8:30 p.m., Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, 881 Seventh Ave. at 57th Street, 212-247-7800, $25 general, $15 students and seniors.
