FEST BEFORE REST BAMcinématek starts its eight-week hiatus with a screening of Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968) and a live performance of Rob Lichter’s “Odyssey!,” a rock opera based on the film, featuring songs like “I’m the Monolith,” “Super Jupiter,” and “Alien Hotel Room.” Tonight, 7 p.m., BAM Rose Cinemas, 30 Lafayette St., between St. Felix Street and Ashland Place, 718-777-3456, $10 general, $7 students, seniors, members, and children.

ANARCHY IN BARCELONA As part of its “Spanish Cinema Now!” series, the Film Society of Lincoln Center presents a screening of Manuel Huerga’s “Salvador (Puig Antich)” (2006), about the final 12 hours of the last political prisoner executed by garrote during the Franco era, in what proved to be the regime’s last days. A German actor, Daniel Brühl, is featured in the titular role.
