SPANISH DANCE The New York Center for Flamenco Performing Arts offers an introductory workshop to flamenco dance. Participants learn the basics of body position, arm movements, and heelwork. No dance experience is needed. Through Saturday, August 27, Tuesday and Thursday, 7 p.m., Saturday, 2 p.m., 917-667-2695, $20 each class. Two locations: Today, Rod Rodgers Dance Studios, 62 E. 4th St., between Second Avenue and Bowery; Saturday, August 20, through Saturday, August 27, 440 Lafayette St. near Astor Place.
EMILY, ETC. “It’s good we are dreaming – it would hurt us – were we awake …” The poems of Emily Dickinson inspired the dance “Emily DickinsongS,” performed at the New York International Fringe Festival by the brAdS company. The performance is directed and choreographed by Monica Bucciantini. Tonight, 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 1:15 p.m., Performance Space 122, 150 First Ave. at 9th Street, $15.
