The executive director of the Public Theater, Mara Manus, will move uptown to become the executive director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center after she steps down from the Public next month, the Film Society’s board president, Daniel H. Stern, said Wednesday.
Ms. Manus, who announced in April that she would leave the Public when her contract is up at the end of the fiscal year, will join the Film Society in mid-September, succeeding current director Claudia Bonn.
Ms. Manus has worked in the film industry in both Los Angeles and New York. She joined the Public in 2002 from the Ford Foundation.
