BOSTON Petr Prucha scored two goals and assisted on another, and linemates Matt Cullen and Jed Ortmeyer also had three points lastnight in the Rangers' 61 victory over the Boston Bruins.
Brendan Shanahan scored his team-leading 25th goal on a penalty shot in the third period for the Rangers, who have won two straight road games following the All-Star break. New York has beaten Boston six consecutive times, including twice this month. The Rangers were whistled for only four penalties, but registered two short-handed goals one by Cullen, and Shanahan's penalty-shot tally that made it 51. Michael Nylander closed the scoring with a power-play tally at 7:39.
The Bruins have lost three straight scoring just two goals and are 391 in their last 13 games. Patrice Bergeron got Boston even at 1 with a power-play goal in the first period.
Cullen added two assists, and Ortmeyer had three as the Rangers' third line dominated the first two periods. Defenseman Michal Rozsival scored in the second, assisted by Prucha and Cullen.
Ortmeyer came into the game with three points (one goal) in nine games, following a 40-game absence because of a pulmonary embolism. He scored a penaltyshot goal in the Rangers' 31 win over Boston on January 13.
Shanahan beat Hannu Toivonen with a backhander on the penalty shot for his third goal in 21 games. He then assisted on Nylander's goal 1:13 later.
Prucha's second of the night, at 6:41 of the second period, chased Tim Thomas from the Boston goal. Toivonen, scheduled to start in Buffalo on Tuesday, yielded Cullen's 10th of the season at 10:00 on the first shot he faced.
