Volcano Ravaged Chilean Town Is Hit With FloodsBy Bloomberg News SANTIAGO, Chile — A volcano rumbled and spewed more ash on Chaiten, the town in southern Chile abandoned and almost flooded by a rain- and mud-swollen river. 
About 90% of the town was under water after the Rio Blanco spilled over its banks. Ash from the volcano fell on the town and lightning could be seen near the summit, Chile's National Emergency Office said. More than 4,000 inhabitants of Chaiten, 6.2 miles from the volcano of the same name, were evacuated after the peak erupted May 2 for the first time in 9,000 years.
