Investigators are searching for a gang of police impersonators who they say robbed a house in Staten Island late Saturday night.
According to police, four men dressed in dark blue outfits and wearing baseball caps flashed phony police badges and identified themselves as police officers in order to gain access into a home at 291 Merrymount St. Equipped with firearms, the suspects allegedly tied up a 41-year-old woman inside the house and took her to the third floor, where they left her inside a bathroom. The four then stole an undisclosed amount of property from the home and fled the scene, leaving the woman unharmed.
Police say an investigation into the incident by the department's police impersonation unit is ongoing.
