New CEO for St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital

St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center announced yesterday it has named Frank Cracolici president and chief executive officer. Mr. Cracolici, a registered nurse, had been interim president of the 808-bed hospital since February, when Dr. Richard Daines vacated the post to become New York State's health commissioner.

Last week, the board of trustees of the hospital's parent company, Continuum Health Partners, voted to approve Mr. Cracolici's appointment.

"In addition to being a talented administrator and leader, Frank understands the hospital system from the inside out, since the beginning of his career was spent ‘in the trenches' as a staff nurse," Continuum's president and CEO, Stanley Brezenoff, said in a statement.

Mr. Cracolici began his career in New York City as a senior staff nurse at New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center, now NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

His career at St. Luke's-Roosevelt began in 1984 as director of nursing.

He subsequently revisited New-York-Presbyterian as a senior administrator, and returned to St. Luke's-Roosevelt in 1993 to become vice president for nursing and patient services.

Since then, he has served as the hospital's executive vice president and chief operating officer, and as Continuum's corporate vice president for patient services.

"St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital is important to me both personally and professionally," Mr. Cracolici said. "Fourteen years later, with a deep sense of pride, I am thrilled to take on the role of president and chief executive officer."
