The family of a Brooklyn boy who died from a drug-resistant staph infection is planning legal action against the hospital where he was treated before his death. Lawyers representing relatives of Omar Rivera, 12, are planning to file a notice of claim against Kings County Hospital for medical malpractice and wrongful death. They allege that Rivera, who died October 14, was not diagnosed with methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA. Instead, he was released with over-the-counter antihistamines.
