Three New York lawmakers, including Senator Clinton, will release a report today that is expected to be critical of the federal government's efforts to clean up indoor contamination near the World Trade Center site following the attacks of September 11, 2001. Along with Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Carolyn Maloney, Mrs. Clinton requested the study from the Government Accountability Office to assess the effectiveness of the Environmental Protection Agency's "test and clean" program for apartments. The EPA has been inspecting and cleaning living spaces near ground zero since January, following criticism that its decontamination efforts in 2002 and 2003 were not sufficient. Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Nadler, and Mrs. Maloney have long been critical of the EPA's response to the attacks, both in the immediate aftermath and in the nears six years that have passed.
