A Nebraska entrepreneur says the millions of dollars his company has paid to and spent on President Clinton since he left office has been well worth it.
"We get back many times over what is spent on Bill," the database guru, Vinod Gupta of InfoUSA, told the Omaha World Herald. "He helps us meet some of the right people. … We are not in any way defensive about it."
Dissident investors in InfoUSA have accused Mr. Gupta of wasting the firm's money on consulting fees of $3 million or more, as well as costs related to travel by Mr. Clinton and his wife, Senator Clinton, on the company's aircraft. The company has also faced allegations that it sold prospect lists to scam artists. InfoUSA said it has resolved the problems, which it inherited from a firm it acquired.
Mr. Gupta is a vice chairman for a fund-raiser tonight for Mrs. Clinton's presidential campaign. The event, at Capitale in Chinatown, features a performance by Christina Aguilera.
