TRENTON, N.J. — Incumbent Senator Lautenberg is the winner in New Jersey's Democratic U.S. Senate primary.
Mr. Lautenberg handily beat back a challenge from South Jersey Rep. Rob Andrews today.
The 84-year-old Mr. Lautenberg is the third-oldest member of the U.S. Senate.
mr. Andrews, who is 50 years old, spent much of the campaign reminding voters Mr. Lautenberg would be nearly 91 by the end of his next term.
The race split party leaders, but Mr. Lautenberg won big support from key Democratic counties.
