Speaker Dislikes Pataki-Era Plan On Horse Racing

Submitted by Michael Thomas, Jan 26, 2007 16:08

Does anyone really believe that the people of grand and ancient means who owned Belmont, Aqueduct, Jamaica and Saratoga actually sat in a room with a Governor of equally, if not greater, grand and ancient means in 1955 to write an agreement that could be undone by politicians in 2007? Old monied people are not in the habit of agreeing to have some future administration appropriate land they designated to be used for the betterment of the sport they loved.
