This article proves yet again that the IRS can always find greater depths to which to sink.

How venal and how petty can the tax collectors get? What new ways can they find to challenge and insult the character and integrity of honest, compassionate, and faith-full tax payers, who regularly and routinely put cash into the collection plate and into the poor box?

How much revenue do the myrmidons in the Treasury hope to reap from this denial of the right to deduct a fundamental, "entry level", charitable gift?

Clearly we must stand up and loudly and vehemently protest this latest bureaucratic affront to the taxpayer, this latest draconian assault on those who choose to provide financial support for the religious institutions, of whatever denomination, that provide the locus centrum for their expressions of their 1st Amendment rights to worship freely in the manner that they choose.
