The President's Chance
in response to reader comment: The War

Submitted by John E. Kraft, Jan 24, 2007 18:15

Our involvement in Iraq is just one campaign in the larger war against global terrorism. Combining with the campaign in Afghanistan, we have now bracketed the Islamic Republic of Iran with two nations that have freely elected governments and who have been delivered from the shackels of islamo-fascists bent on creating a fascist political state with a marxist economy. Yes, we have suffered casualties in both places. But, over 12,000 Iraqi police and security forces have lost their lives as well. Little is heard of that number in our media reports. As far back as September of 2001, the President warned that this would be a long war. Even in his most recent address to the Congress he emphasized that the war would be going on long after the Members of Congress and he had left office. Yet, there are those in America who think the war should be over in 27 minutes and 30 seconds (plus commercials). There are even some who say we should negotiate an end to the war against terrorism. They fail the realize that the terrorists would arrive at the conference site, shoot them in the head and laugh over their corpses! To cite John Stuart Mill, one of those whose thoughts contrbuted to the creation of our Republic: "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse".
