Hitler: Diagnosis of a Destructive Prophet

and

Wounded Monster.

Redlich's book is exhaustive in its medical history of Hitler. Dorpat makes a strong case that H'.s permanent warlike nature derived from his five years of continuous service as a gutsy front line runner; except for a brief stint off at the end for a gassing, and then a major shell exploding nearby. Post Traumatic Stress on top of lots of childhood trauma injuring an extremely agressive and then aggrieved German nationalist fanantic. so if mailer claims that there's not a lot on h. in english and that is why he wrote the book.... maybe h. is the new marilynn. i'll take a looks, but mailer seems to be still more of a self-promoter. anyhow, h. is not all that interesting as a case, unless you dwell on his relatinship with his bride, the geman people.
