It wounds me deeply to think of the Catholic Church as a business entity. What must Jesus be thinking? He came to this earth in poverty to save souls and to preach the gospel. Even if one soul is saved by one of the proposed closed churches isn't that pleasing to God? Jesus spent much of His time with sinners. Could not the Bishops find a creative way to have the priests and pastors of these churches shepard the flock and bring in the strays? I think the Bishops, like politicians should take a closer look at the budget to eliminate all of the unnecessary expenditures and not the houses of worship (God's house.)
