Good Riddance to the House Ruth Didn't Build

The old park, the new park.

I'm not old enough to remember what the park was like, but I am a big fan of the Yankees and I attend games regularly. The current park is adequate but in no means is it up to the standard that Yankee Fans deserve. I'm not a subscriber to the school, of newer = better, Comisky Park vs Wrigley Field is a perfect example of that statements inaccuracies, but Yankee Stadium as it stands doesn't have the same intimate feeling as a Fenway Park or Wrigley Field. And facts are that the newer stadiums offer more for fans of the game than what they get at Yankee Stadium, making sure that the people that are paying top dollar for less than luxury seats have a good time during the game. That could mean having increased sightlines around the concourse so that you can see the game while getting concessions. It could mean mini games for the younger fans with big league dreams.

As it stands, Yankees stadium is filled with tributes to the players that wore the Jersey. And keeping true to the ideal that no matter how big the player may have been, it is all about the interlocking NY on the front of that jersey and the town they represent. Steinbrenner's "Never too good for the fans" attitude is as much as any fan could hope for from an owner. I'm glad were getting something representative of the Greatest City in the World!

Yankees in 2007!
