The English in Us
in response to reader comment: Superficial, Trite and Self-Serving

Submitted by Ward Canfield, Jan 19, 2007 09:47

How unfortunate it is when we project ourselves onto other people that we get out of touch with reality and cannot see things for what they are, as in the submission by Mr. Ben Lifson above. Any rational human being can see that the Ravitch couple are not self-serving. They obviously care about the issue they raised so much that they decided to become proactive and do something about it in their own way. This way took the form of a book they published in support of the view they promote. It is easy to criticize but not do anything constructive to help the cause you criticize. The Ravitch couple showed commendable depth of both criticism and positive action. Mr. Lisfon would do well to go back and perhaps re-read the article with a broader view than his own feelings, since I'm afraid he missed these obvious points.
