Art is a vehicle that can provide an experience that shifts the participant with an entirely new way of perceiving and questioning or can speak with crystal clarity in a concise, masterful way for those of us less skilled or with less encouraging support for struggling to re-assess the status quo of the separatness engendered by the thinking mind, with its inherent need for classification and division. I like learning about the "ism" project. The overarching results seem to highlight the fact that the more you cut something into pieces to find the root, the more interrelationship of oneness is identified; there lies the fun, the reflection, the insight, and the learning. The NYU projects Gary Shapiro describes seem to address artistic possibilities from a unique, and important concept constraint that is potentially unlimited. "Does not awareness have a place in education?" really made me smile. Yes, it does. Thank you. It is nice to see that some of the projects were found to be useful in other educational settings. Maybe a future project could be "important-ism."
