The idea is laughable now. One of the points of the Hundred Years'War was that the former Norman
provinces had become wholely French in mindset and considered the English King to be a foreign invader.
What the suggestion does prove is there is nothing new under the sun and old ideas resurface in the most
surprising ways and times.
