A Cold Reception for Jew who Embraced Iran

Submitted by Moishe Perl, Jan 16, 2007 14:21

Thank you for this article.

Previous press coverage of this "a tiny chasidic sect" implied that they represent mainstream Orthodox Jewry. That is not so. I love the author's term "non-Zionist" as a more appropriate term for Orthodox Jews who do not agree with all of Zionism's views. Many Orthodox do identify themselves as Zionists while the Ultra-Orthodox tend not to. Either way, the VAST majority (99.9%) including the Satmar Chasidim, condemn these so called Neturei Karta activities.

While the NK did not deny the Holocaust at the Iran conference, their very presence gives courage to these terrorists and is an unacceptable act. Sitting in a room of Holocaust deniers causes great pain to the survivors and to their families of which I am one.

The NK claims that Iran would not hurt Jews so long as we subjugate ourselves to Arab rule. I say it is akin to the fox inviting the fish to come live peacefully on land.

There are many ills in society and while we strive to correct our mistakes and to live better today than we did yesterday, there is NO EXCUSE to continually support the enemies of both The United States and of Jews worldwide.

A disavowing family member of one of these "Neturei Karta"nicks gave the the name Jews for Mohammed. While I do not mock followers of other religions for their belief, I do think the moniker appropriate. Just as the group Jews for Jesus confuses the differences between our religions, so do the Neturei Karta.

As a disclaimer I need to state that the views expressed herein are totally my own and I DO NOT claim to represent Orthodox Jews as a group. Hopefully NK can at least do the same.
