"The Best of Nature" was quite profound in many ways - the harshmess of an animal's existance (both in and out of the wild), the savageness displayed between different species so necessary for survival, the tenderness and protectiveness displayed by a mother animal with regard to her offspring. To me the most gripping moments in the program came when a powerful bond between animal and human came to the fore. Both Linda Koebner and Solomon James showed a very special bond between them and the animals they cared for. One could not but feel the bond was equally strong in both directions. There is a fair bit of follow-up information on many of the animals shown on the program but I was equally curious as to the well being of Linda Koebner and Solomon James. I hope life has treated them well and they have been able to use their gift of compassion to bond with other animals. They are obviously special people with a very special gift.
