City's Polish Community Up in Arms Over Stereotypes in Article
in response to reader comment: Another supportive Polish immigrant

Submitted by Jarek Wieczorek, Nov 3, 2006 15:10

The article is clearly a satirical piece with a self-deprecating coda. It is written in a provocative, albeit heavily sophomore style. I hope that, in its vast majority, the Polish community in the USA would understand this and would not get dragged into a campaign of over-reaction. Let's have a chuckle and keep our dignity. For its part, Mr. Langlieb must have realized that he was sailing very close to the wind and his next satirical piece will be somewhat more refined.

We, Polaks, however, do not need his apology because--as stupid as we are--we risk not getting it either.

Sincerely,

Jarek Wieczorek

McLean, Virginia
