Birthing Pains of 'Nations'

You Belong To Me, is this week's Black Box Theater source of irritation, as Josh Fox's three acts of quite possibly, acid induced writing, takes his soon to be yawning audience on a Timothy Leary-like LSD trip, through the ending of three wars; the civil war, WW-2 and Iraq (even though, the Iraq war is far from over; if ever.) while demanding an excessive use of said audience's imagination to keep pace with a gruelingly, useless, worn out storyline laced with absurdity to confuse the I.Q. challenged among us into thinking they missed something.
From the opening Wilhelm Richard Wagner inspired shrills introducing the onslaught of madness, which annoyingly was injected throughout the entire performance, Mr. Fox never quite got past the foundation stage of his work, leaving one to wonder, what was he trying to accomplish.
While, I will admit, his attempt to illustrate his convoluted, discombobulated efforts with the use of an entire act, voiced in German with subtitles for presumably, mostly unilingual viewers ,showed broader talents. However, the staging of the endeavor subtracted from the visual impact his cast were vainly trying to establish.
I would also query Mr. Fox as to why he chose these wars and not add Vietnam as an option as well. Perhaps other wars were covered in previous works considering this was reportedly the fifth installment of the Death of Nations Project.
If I am exposing my ignorance or lack of research by not having seen the previous four works, then I guess I will just have to live with that fact. If this is a sampling of Mr. Fox's present talents, I don't want to experience any of his past.

To be fair to Mr Fox, I cover wars via our news reporting of Iraq and Afganistan among other military engagements, and as a result ,I have found when it comes to armed conflict, art rarely conveys many truths.
Lee "The Cool Guy" says; don't do this to yourself.
