The celebrated girl singer of the 1950's seems to embarrass "serious' jazz musicians today. An old jazz man, here in KC, once told me that all instrumental jazz musicians are just frustrated because they have to use instruments to sing. There was always tension and the players knew they could sabotage any little girl who thought she could join them on stage. Rosemary Clooney must have won their hearts.

I'm thrilled that the Y has chosen to bring her back and let her rip. For a white woman to be accepted in the jazz sphere, she had to have a lot of moxie and something cute and tragic at the same time. Karyn Allison is the only person on the scene, now, that even comes close.

I have to be honest and say, I get really tired of "Cool". I'm ready for JOY. Bring out the girl singers of the 50's and 60's, I wanna see some ponytails swing!
