Edmond Morris made a plug for the election of John McCain in his keynote address, at this supposedly bi-partisan event for the purpose of raising money for the staff of a pro-parks foundation. With government employees present, turned his keynote address into an absolutely rude endorsement of John McCain for President. I wish you had reported on the reaction of Marian Heiskell to something this inappropriate. As you say, she is chair of the foundation who paid Morris, and also co-owner of the New York Times. Morris is the one who "channeled" [ie: MADE UP] massive parts of his bio of President Reagan. What could Marian Heiskell have been thinking? How does she and Morris think the public-servicing park rangers would feel about being politicized this way? You can imagine what short work Theodore Roosevelt would have made of the free market fund managers -- who McCain once urged should be deregulated -- if he were in charge today. Why would Morris think an educated and complex man like Roosevelt would support McCain as he said? Morris and Heiskell should be ashamed.
