Parking Plan Is Rebuffed by Teachers

Submitted by ALRIMIR, Sep 22, 2008 21:30

If teachers can barely find parking spaces now WITH permits. What will they do when unemployed people have access to their former parking spaces ? Also, will teachers have to worry about moving their vehicles for street cleaning regulations between class periods ? Or should they just let themselves get ticketed, so the mayor could continue to financially rape the working class people. I've never seen a DOE employee not get a ticket for parking at a hydrant, "No Standing" zone, or a crosswalk. If they want to take anyone's permit let them take the ones that belong to law enforcement. This way, they can talk to their superiors about maybe getting their tickets dismissed. Because I doubt that a teacher could have that same talk with their principal and get the same result. Bottom line. How do DOE permits fit into this, since the only place you can park is at a SCHOOL, DURING school DAYS AND HOURS, and NOT in a hydrant, NOT in a crosswalk. They should worry about the illegal ticketing done by their traffic agents, giving you fines to make the city rich, and then they want to tow your car. Working class citizens in this city should get some perks, but that should not be confused with a parking permit. Unless it meant that we could park anywhere we wanted. Finally, Thank You goes to the UFT president for her fight.
