Morandi's Subtle Spectacle

Submitted by Stephen, Sep 18, 2008 15:29

Amazing coincidence: After my very first post (in Politics) today, I see you are featuring one of my inspirations, Morandi. I was first entranced in 1981. Once locked-in to Morandi's hierarchy of contrasts it was impossible to escape. I could write for hours on Morandi and how close study in the studio gives great power to subtle value shifts. Add Matisse and some studio Ingres and I'm good to go. How much poetry can exist within a small painting? Let Morandi show you.
