Joe, did you read the article? Arts organizations whose events the public enjoy thanks to the subsidies and gifts of these companies, will critical funding. Nothing implied here that opera is or less important than the jobs that are being lost-it's those employees that make up the bulk of giving. And their losses are the arts' losses. That's the story.These things don't fund themselves. There have been stories about the impact of this on retail and other sectors.
