You've really got to feel sorry for McCain. He's a washed-up old turncoat who really thought his buddy Dubya was going to pass the job on to him ... and now he's not only got a revitalized Russia to deal with in Putin, but a very capable electoral opponent in Obama. What's a fellow to do? McCain appears to have listened to Dubya's campaign analysts and done what the Bush administration has been doing all along: attack your opponent's character, then lie loud and often ... eventually enough people have got their fingers in their ears that they can't hear your retractions.
