A Letter From the Editor: The Future of the Sun

Submitted by David Koch, Sep 5, 2008 20:23

Say it ain't so, Seth. Say it ain't so. Heard the news about the Sun's possible demise on my drive into work yesterday morning (on the Wall Street Journal Report) and it was definitely not news I needed to hear prior to the start of a 12 hour shift. The New York Sun has always been, in my eyes, the perfect newspaper. I have always appreciated Benny Avni's no-nonsense coverage of all the nonsense at the UN and the paper's pro-Israel editorial position. I also enjoy Adam Kirsch's book reviews and, well heck, how many newspapers offer a crime fiction columnist? I even like the masthead and motto! It seems to me that 10 million dollars is a rather paltry amount to keep the paper afloat. Surely, there has to be a group of investors out there somewhere who recognize the journalistic value and integrity of the New York Sun. It will be a sad day indeed if the Sun sets after shining so brightly for the past 6 years. Wishing you all the best in your efforts. Sincerely, David Sloan Koch
