City, So Far, Bucks Trend on Poverty

Submitted by Phil from Queens, Aug 27, 2008 08:33

Articles like this never delve into the cost of living for people in large cities like New York. This city is so expensive to live in and the median incomes cited are hardly enough to get by. A survey should be done to ask people what percentage of their annual income is going to keep a roof over their heads. The renters rule was 30 percent of your gross income. I know people who are paying upward to 50 percent to live here. Check your own and you will see the percentage. People below the poverty level have access to different types of assistance for their needs. It is the middle class that is in the squeeze.
