Diplomats Taking a New Tack on Georgia

I do not think that McCain is going to lead us into a war with Russia. My point is, the US needs to take a strong stance in this predicament. The rest of the world can never be relied on to take a strong position against tyranny without an army at their doorsteps. As a veteran that has been to wartorn countries, and sites of ethnic cleansing, I have seen firsthand the results of Europe's (and the "world majorities") impotence and complete lack of investment in other human beings' welfare. Moreover, the Putin regime (let's not kid ourselves) depends on the support of the host of rapacious oligarchs that prop up his rule. Money speaks to these people much more than nationalistic rhetoric. In fact, they have already demonstrated their complete lack of regard for the interests of their own people. There are a number of steps that can be taken to hit Russia where it will feel it most: in the pocketbook. Greed trumps international prestige in the Muscovite thieves' den. Yet, even such a pedestrian tack such as this overwhelms the weak stomachs of European leaders, and, it seems, Democrats here in the US. I suggest that readers do a bit of research into the events of 1939, culminating in Chamberlain's historic "Peace in our time", and the devastating consequences of a Pax Infirmitas.
