Diplomats Taking a New Tack on Georgia

To "John Doe," The parallel you draw to the situation in Iraq is ludicrous. The invasion of Iraq, whether one agrees with it in principle is irrelevant, was effected after 17 failed UN resolutions. Additionally, the states that called for an UN resolution authorizing an invasion included: the United Kingdom, Poland, Italy, Australia, Denmark, Japan, and Spain. The point here is, Russia invaded a sovereign nation with no attempted recourse to international conventions, or even a pretext at attempted peaceful resolution or international support. Drawing comparison between unpopular wars involving the US, and naked Russian territorial aggression is unfounded, dangerous, and characteristic of a politically motivated distortion of objective facts.
