Harlem Charter School First in 2008 Wave

Those involved in bringing St. Hope to Harlem should have a dug below the suface of Kevin Johnson's PR. He has indeed transformed his alma mater...from a school with a diverse student body of 1,800 to a segregated school of fewer than 700. In five years it has has an almost 100 percent turnover of administration and staff. It is also a No Child Left Behind Program Improvement school because of it's poor graduation rate. As for his redevelopment projects, other than the one project mentioned in the article, his properties in his old neighborhood were the subject of several articles in the Sacramento Bee outlining their neglected and decaying states. But all in all, let's not let a few facts get in the way. Kevin Johnson was an NBA great, and that is evidently what counts the most.
