Harry Potter No Longer a Best Seller

Submitted by Eliza Days, May 2, 2008 15:05

A lot more people would buy and read Harry Potter if they knew that the books dealt with serious issues like prejudice and discrimination against all kinds of people (the disabled, people with HIV, racial minorities, and so forth). There is a book called "Prejudice in Harry Potter" which dissects the Potterverse and makes all these things clear. I didn't know HP was so serious and such profound literature until I read that book. I think Rowling could get her books back on the bestseller list if she emphasized these themes in her work and let people know that HP is not just about the 3 white kids.
