This is a very well-written article. I am still in shock that somebody even suggested TEARING DOWN Yankee Stadium. I am not even remotely close to being a Yankees fan but I still believe that, with all the history behind this structure, it should certainly be preserved as a historical landmark. What stadium today has seen more championships played and won on its grounds than Yankee Stadium? If the demolition of Yankee Stadium is actually carried out as planned, one can only wonder how much longer it will be until Wrigley Field and Fenway Park are reduced to rubble. Wouldn't it be great if the players association were able to raise a significant portion of preservation funds from today's players? One wouldn't think that, with the astronomical salaries these guys make it would be much of a problem for a player to donate for a certainly worthy cause such as keeping Yankee Stadium standing. However, I suppose if a player put $5,000 towards a landmark, then he would only be able to afford a silver-plated bathtub instead of gold. Can't have that now, can we?
