Carter's Folly

Submitted by Noam Ayal, Apr 29, 2008 18:04

Today, April 29, Mr. Carter appeared on MSNBC and in response to a question by Chris Matthews regarding Israel's willingness to give up control of Jerusalem as its capitol stated that Israel should do so. After all, he continued, that is Palestinian territory. When was Jerusalem Palestinian land? The UN partition resolution of 1947 stated that Jerusalem was to be an International city. The city was captured by Jordan following the invasion of the mandate territory and was controlled by Jordan for 19 years. The city was subsequently captured by Israel in 1967 following attacks on the city by Jordan. When did Palestinian "rights" to Jerusalem trump those of Israel?
