Now winter is truly upon us, it would appear, for passport files belonging to our betters have been breached! But hold on a second: isn't politics supposed to be about total honesty - so what exactly is there to hide in these files, and what exactly is the problem? Always assuming that our betters are squeaky-clean - and they must be, mustn't they? - just where does the problem really lie? I think we should be told - but of course we all know that will never happen. Politics, you see!

So someone had a surreptitious peep at the files, we are informed. But surely those officials who actually processed the darned things in the first place had a peep, too. Well, they'd have to, wouldn't they?

Are our betters tilting at windmills, do you think? Pass the sick bag for poor Condoleezza, please, for I have a feeling that she'll soon be needing it.

Just how unbenjificatious is this storm in a teacup going to become?
