Black, White, Red, and Blue

Mr Myers- Your 'colorless' detractions of Mr. Obama's speech in the name of naked (and invisible) egalitarian ideals detract not only from the borderline heroic candor of Mr. Obama's speech, but also from the individuality of the man whose general 'individuality' you would fight for with such ideas. Regardless of your antipathy towards Mr. Obama's association with certain individuals, the sheer blood and guts of his argument is worth more mention and is comprised of more real history than your ideological glance at such egalitarian (and statist) ideas -many of which have produced the very weight of the issues Mr. Obama was brave enough to address. The fact that you see so many 'American individuals' is great, but don't leech the blood out of every individual's group history or surely you'll end up with a pale version of the red white and blue. And just to clarify the pun, I don't mean pale as in 'white,' but as in fetid, bloodless, and dead.

To proclaim the hope of an ideal is admirable; to ignore the weight of history in fighting for that ideal is not only foolish, but tragic.
