in response to reader comment: RESPONSE TO MR:GLENN SMITH

Submitted by Gene Guffey, Mar 15, 2008 10:58

Mr. Hazard I know that you have the best intentions in your heart and it behoves me to respond. American is actually the best country in the world. How do I know this, because I have been in 132 different countries over the past 30 years. American is not a country to establish colonies, does not seek to overthrow other countries (bad leaders - yes), wants to conduct trade, and America and American citizens give more money than half the rest of the world to poor and developing countries, tackle health problems, etc.

How many millions are still trying to get into America? Any current guesses? I have listened while citizens of over 100 countries have talked with me asking if I could possibly help them get citizenship in America. These were bright, educated people who saw the differences between all the countries and many spoke two or three languages fluently.

America is not perfect, but, America is the only country I have been in that continiously tries to move forward with human ideals of becoming a better place to work and live.
