I never meant to infer that McCain was not a war hero. I am aware of the circumstances and results of his imprisonment. Your points rebuke the original author nicely. I'm a democrat, but don't necessarily pine for another Kennedy. I agree with many of your points. My point is what is it about being a war hero or prisoner makes a person qualified for President. If war was the only thing important to Americans perhaps we need to elect a general. But the business of the nation extends far beyond making war. Please don't think my comments are against McCain or for anyone else. I simply don't see why war hero is an automatic pass to be president, whether McCain, or Kerry or anyone else. We have plenty of generals and admirals and knowledgeable people to advise our president in war times. We need leadership that can unite a divided nation.
