Clinton Signals Support For Fla., Mich. Re-Votes

Submitted by Steven Rahn, Mar 10, 2008 03:38

This race will be decided by the super-delegates. That said, Obama's slight lead may evaporate if Florida and Michigan are either seated or the contests re-run. It is also been noted that Obama's two-percent advantage in delegates is nebulous at best, based in large part to his Red state wins.....states Democrats will not carry in the fall. Hillary's delegate and state count is smaller, but it's not fluff, it's very solid. So is her hispanic support, and her working-class white support....and of course, support from women. Can a Democrat win this fall without these groups? I very much doubt it. The conversation is all about the delegates these days, as if the primaries are the prize, not the White House. But the White house IS the prize, it's what this entire contest is about. Obama can win Alaska, North Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.....but so what? Those states will go in the Republican column in the fall. Democrats need to hold the traditional strong-holds, like New York and California, and win the key battleground states as well. Hillary has already done this in the primaries, which is why I find it astonishing that anyone would suggest that Hillary get out of the race....for the sake of the party? As I see it, Hillary Clinton is the Democrats best bet to win the White House, and quitting now would put McCain across the finish line for sure.
