The first time I heard a recording of Giuseppe di Stefano singing the final aria from Lucia di Lammermoor, I got on my knees. I can't imagine anyone ever singing this role in a way to equal his. It was Pavarotti -- an admirer of his -- who introduced me to his singing. May his soul be blessed in eternity.
