"He is still loathed by many Democrats who call him a spoiler...."

They are right. One of the graces of the system in the United States is intensity of preference. A persistent minority with a pressing need can be represented by aligning with the major party that is willing to represent them in return for their support. Of course, the key to this is cooperation.

Nader's approach seems to be a strategy that injures those most likely to support you. This year, the victim might be McCain who consistently supported campaign finance, or the Democratic candidate who will likely champion government sponsored health care reform.

At any rate, Nader truly believes that "perfect" should be the enemy of "good."
